How I Fell in Love with Makeup

My love for makeup started early, thanks to my background in Ballroom and Latin dancing. I’ve always been fascinated by the power of makeup and how it transformed me from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan it made me feel empowered, beautiful and confident whilst swirling around the dance floor.

Me and my dance partner Paul Allroney

Between the ages of 5 - 25, I was an amateur Ballroom & Latin dancer, competing in various competitions, wearing the most fabulous sequin dresses, with my hair slicked back a face full of makeup, and every inch of my body covered in fake tan & glitter this is is where I fell in love with Makeup Sequins, Glitter & Massive Earrings! I absolutely loved my dancing days, and maybe I’ll return in the new year…

In  2001, at age 25, I started working at the London College of Fashion Short courses, at the University of the Arts London.

It was here where I immersed myself in fashion, Art & design and makeup and education.

Working at one of the world’s leading Fashion, Art, and Design universities has been an incredible opportunity for me to thrive and embrace my authenticity. With students from diverse backgrounds and experiences, the environment is vibrant, inspiring, and eclectic—a perfect space to express myself and continuously learn new skills. This university celebrates creativity, inclusivity, and diversity, values that are essential in shaping the future. It’s truly the most amazing place to be.

Fast forward to 2011, after years of loving makeup, I decided to take the plunge and enrolled at the  London College of Fashion to become a Makeup Artist. When in Rome as they say... I learned everything I could from fashion & editorial makeup to bridal makeup, I soaked up everything, and that’s when I realised that bridal makeup was my true calling. It felt special— I preferred to make people feel incredibly beautiful with makeup. Just learning all the tips and tricks and having the products and knowledge I could create flawless timeless bridal looks that last all day and night and make brides feel like the best version of themselves,

Building My Bridal Makeup Business

Around this time in 2011, while preparing for my own wedding, Although I had a Makeup Artist do my makeup, I did my bridesmaids' and my mums makeup, which kick-started my bridal makeup journey. Soon after, I found myself doing the bridal makeup for friends, family, and eventually clients across Essex, London, and beyond. Back then, it was all word-of-mouth and Facebook recommendations, I quickly became very successful, and I was fully booked with brides who loved my natural soft glam approach—enhancing natural beauty without overpowering it.

A Pause and a Comeback

Life took a turn in 2019 when I divorced and stepped away from makeup to focus on my son. By 2020, the world was in lockdown, and I found myself out of the industry for four years. In 2023, with my son now grown and independent, I decided it was time to return to my passion and start up my Bridal Makeup Business again.

Coming back after four years felt like starting from scratch. Social media had evolved, I didn’t have any video content or polished portfolio, and I knew it was time to reinvent myself. At my first wedding after my break, I met a hairstylist Lynette, who had built an amazing bridal business: had her own studio, she spent two months each year in Crete just for bridal clients, launched an educational platform, and was truly living her best life. Her story lit a fire in me—I realised I wanted to build a business where I could bring my bridal natural makeup skills and positive energy to brides, creating bridal makeup looks while helping them feel completely relaxed and at ease on their big day

I enrolled in loads of courses to upskill including, business courses, social media, and more makeup courses at the London College of Fashion, I attended Masterclasses at Charlotte Tilbury, Nars & MAC, to arm myself with the latest product knowledge and makeup styles

I also attended a Glitter Makeup Artist training and learned all about Eco Glitter, as I love anything glitter and sequins and want to be kind to the enviroment. I set up an Eco Glitter Bar to be able to offer my clients something extra and called it Diva2Disco after my 2 cats.

Social media has been a labour of love, not having the content I needed from bridal makeup, after my return , I decided I would use my social media to inject some fun and positivity, wellbeing and showcase my makeup skills into your day, I want to be my authentic self and want brides and clients to get to know me as a person, this bright bubbly enthusiastic kind and caring person that you feel aligned to and want to work with, as you will be with me for a long time on your wedding morning

The Turning Point: Merging Makeup with Holistic Practices

In 2023, I also embraced a more holistic lifestyle. After coming through a very traumatic period of my life i wanted a more holistic lifestyle. Started yoga, attending sound hearing gong baths, meditation and lots of dancing. I trained and became a certified Reiki practitioner experiencing the calming and healing benefits of Reiki firsthand, I knew I wanted to bring this energy into my bridal makeup business. Wedding mornings can be fun, full of energy, and sometimes stressful and overwhelming.

I wanted to offer my brides something extra, —a serene, calming experience where my brides, not only feel stunning on the outside they also feel aligned, centered, and wonderful on the inside, ready as they walk down the aisle.

The New Chapter: A Holistic Bridal Makeup Experience

As of October 2024, my bridal makeup business is thriving! My website is set to launch, my social media is growing, and I'm excited about the future.

Alongside my makeup artistry, I’m introducing optional calming practices—like Reiki, light meditation, simple breathing exercises, and gentle relaxation techniques—for those that would like to create a wedding morning that’s as calming, as it is beautiful.

With every wedding morning, I bring my positivity, sense of humor, and warm energy, ensuring the experience is both memorable and fun. And, of course, if a little extra glitter & sparkle, is what you’re after, I’m all for it!

This new chapter blends beauty with well-being for brides who are drawn to it, while still delivering the same high-quality bridal makeup I’ve always offered. So, whether you’re interested in adding these calming elements or just want to keep it classic, I’m here to make your day a beautiful one.

My mission is to empower every bride to feel truly beautiful, inside and out, by blending natural flawless makeup artistry with holistic wellness practices. Through my positive, calming energy, I want to create a stress-free bridal morning where every bride feels centered, radiant, and ready to walk down the aisle with confidence. I believe in celebrating diversity, inclusivity, and the unique beauty of every individual, ensuring every bride is seen, supported, and looks stunning on their wedding day
